As 2025 draws to a close, we’re reflecting on a year that’s brought significant developments both for KPM Group and the direct mail industry. Whilst we’ve expanded our capabilities to better serve you, the broader marketing landscape has reinforced what we’ve long known: physical mail remains a powerful, sustainable channel that marketing decision-makers can’t afford to ignore.
Three Services That Expand Your Options
This year at KPM Group, we’ve introduced three new services designed to give you more flexibility and control over your multichannel campaigns.
1 Map-Based Address Selection
In October, we launched our map-based address selection service for infrastructure projects and local authority communications. Using Ordnance Survey mapping technology, you can now define precise geographical zones and automatically reach every affected household. What used to take hours of manual address compilation now happens in minutes, with prices including print, postage and Royal Mail delivery. The service has already helped councils and contractors streamline compliance communications whilst improving community relations.
2 Branded Envelope Overprinting
Our investment in state-of-the-art envelope overprinting equipment means we can now handle your envelope production in-house, offering faster turnarounds and better prices. With capacity to print up to 200,000 envelopes daily and next-day delivery available, you get complete cost consolidation without third-party mark-ups. Studies show branded envelopes increase open rates by 25% compared to plain white envelopes – that first impression on the doormat really does matter.
3 Eco-Friendly Membership Cards
In April, we expanded into specialised card production with a focus on sustainability. Whilst we can produce traditional plastic cards with contactless and RFID technology, we’re particularly proud to offer board-backed cards as biodegradable, compostable alternatives to PVC. From loyalty cards for retailers to membership cards for associations, we’re giving you flexible weekly production runs rather than forcing you into large annual batches.
Mail’s Sustainability Story
Beyond KPM Group’s developments, 2025 has brought compelling evidence of mail’s effectiveness and environmental credentials. The latest JICMAIL Q3 2025 data reveals that mail recycling rates have hit an all-time high of 88% – the strongest reading since tracking began in Q3 2023.
But recycling is just one part of mail’s sustainability story. JICMAIL has now integrated carbon footprint calculations into its Discovery platform, drawing on CarbonQuota data to provide “cradle-to-grave” emission measurements across the entire supply chain. This transparency matters because marketers need accurate data to make informed decisions about their environmental impact.
The Super Touchpoint Strengths Continue
JICMAIL’s 2025 report also confirms mail’s role as a “super touchpoint” that drives full-funnel effectiveness. Mail items prompting purchases increased 7% year-on-year, with half of those purchases completed online. Website visits driven by mail reached 9.4%, matching the record set during Q2 2020.
Frequency of interaction – a vital metric for brand campaigns – shows the average direct mail piece receives 4.6 interactions, spending 8.1 days in homes with 150 seconds of attention. These aren’t vanity metrics; they’re indicators that mail delivers sustained engagement in ways digital channels struggle to match.
Mail engagement is also strengthening across households, with the proportion of mail being shared hitting a five-year high of 10.1%. The average direct mail piece reaches an additional 15 people per hundred through household sharing.
What This Means for Marketers
As ad spend in the mail channel has grown for four consecutive quarters (according to AA and WARC), marketers are recognising something important: in an era of digital fatigue and declining email open rates, physical mail offers tangible differentiation.
The combination of high engagement rates, proven sustainability credentials, and integrated carbon measurement tools gives marketing decision-makers the evidence they need to justify mail budgets. When you can demonstrate 90%+ open rates, measurable online conversion, and reduced environmental impact, mail becomes a strategic asset rather than a legacy channel.
Looking Ahead to KPM Group 2026
2025 has reinforced our belief that physical mail, when executed well and measured properly, delivers results that benefit both marketers and their audiences. As we head into 2026, we’re committed to helping you leverage these strengths through services that make mail more accessible, more targeted, and more effective.
Whether you’re managing infrastructure communications, launching loyalty programmes, or building multichannel campaigns, we’re here to show you what’s possible when print meets precision.
